Robert A. Hecht

Bob Hecht has nearly 30 years of experience addressing strategic, managerial and operational issues involving information technology. Bob is currently based in London and leading AlixPartners’ European IT Transformation Services practice. His expertise is building an IT strategy around a company’s business objectives, and enabling the organization to extract the highest business value from their IT investment. He has significant international experience and is skilled in dealing with the globalization issues facing many companies.

In the past three years, Bob has participated in or led IT engagements in Europe working with the CIOs at Alpharma Pharmaceuticals, Fila Sport, Ahold Spain, Rexel, Cadbury Schweppes and Gate Gourmet International to create interim data integrity solutions, and to facilitate long-range systems integration and overall cost reduction initiatives. He has also worked with Cerberus, KKR, Clayton Dubilier & Rice, and Texas Pacific Group performing pre-acquisition due diligence investigation of IT within potential portfolio companies.

Bob’s previous engagements include:

  • Interim CIO for Exide Technologies (facilitated global systems integration, negotiated outsourcing solutions, and reduced running cost of IT by 20%)
  • Interim CIO for Western Nonwovens (integrated five independent companies to one ERP solution and a common infrastructure)
  • Interim CIO for Schwinn/GT Cycling and Fitness Company in Boulder, Colorado and Newbury, England. (facilitated merger and systems integration of two competing manufacturers)
  • Interim CIO for Budget Rent a Car’s international division in Hemel Hempstead, England
  • Interim CIO for Forstmann and Company in Dublin, Georgia
  • Provided IT management consulting services to APS, Medar, Inc., and Ryder Systems

Prior to joining AlixPartners in 1996, Bob served for 13 years as Vice President and CIO for Harbor Industries in Grand Haven, Michigan. Bob holds an MA in communications from Western Michigan University, and a BA in English and French from Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
