Carl has more than 16 years of experience as a financial consultant focusing on providing reorganization and restructuring consulting to major distressed companies, creditors, shareholders, and other interested parties. He has assisted management in developing restructuring initiatives and business plans to improve operations, profitability, and liquidity; performed analyses on the restructuring of capital and assisted in the disposition of assets; and prepared and assessed normalized and pro forma earnings, financial projections and business plans.
Carl has assisted companies in planning to file for protection under Chapter 11; advised clients regarding the terms and structure of Debtor-in-Possession financings, key employee retention plans and management incentive plans; assisted with the development and evaluation of Plans of Reorganization and Disclosure Statements; and assisted in the development of pro forma financial statements including adjustments resulting from the reorganization and “fresh-start” accounting. He has also provided expert testimony on numerous occasions on bankruptcy court matters associated with valuation, market rates, feasibility, and substantive consolidation. He has also provided dispute consulting on a broad range of financial matters.
Having served both public and private companies in various industries, Carl’s industry experience includes automotive, construction, financial institutions, food and consumer products, healthcare, insurance, publishing, real estate and hospitality, manufacturing, oil and gas, retail and distribution and transportation. His recent engagements include Bally Total Fitness, Federal Mogul, Orius Telecommunications, Florsheim Shoes, Jacobson Stores, DT Industries, an aluminum casting company, a regional baking company, and a national association.
Prior to joining AlixPartners, he was a principal at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP and served as the director of corporate planning and development of an international publisher. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor, and holds a Certificate in Distressed Business Valuation. Carl is also a director for the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association. He is a frequent speaker and author on the subject of corporate restructuring.
Carl received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting with high honors and an MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of Florida.
