Jack is a Managing Director with AlixPartners and a veteran in the world of operational strategy and performance improvement. He has led projects in a wide range of industry segments including telecom, electronics, computers, software, semiconductor, automotive, chemical and private equity companies throughout Asia – including Japan, China and Taiwan – as well as North America and Europe. He joined AlixPartners from PRTM, an operational and strategy consulting firm, where he was co-leader of the firm’s Shanghai office. Jack leads clients in fundamentally improving their strategy, innovation, product development, and supply chain management.
Before that, Jack was an associate principal with McKinsey & Company, serving as the firm’s leader in its global innovation initiative and co-leader of the firm’s innovation strategy knowledge effort. There, he focused on innovation-aspiration setting, opportunity identification, portfolio management, and execution. He was also a leader in McKinsey’s product development practice.
Jack was also previously the Chief Strategy Officer at Compal Electronics in Taiwan and China, with responsibilities in overseeing the development of the company’s overall product development strategy, allocation of R&D resources, execution of technology, product definition, and project execution.
Throughout his career, Jack has focused on:
- Improving client performance in supply chain planning, including demand and supply balancing, operations strategy and implementation, which itself includes supply chain management, IT planning and ERP system selections, and production engineering and new product introduction.
- Developing innovation and product strategy, portfolio and pipeline management approach, global R&D management, product development process and PLM (product lifecycle management) system implementation.
- Driving clients to define collaboration strategy, redefine customer and supplier relationships, and create new business model through thought-leadership. These accomplishments draw heavily on business process improvement, change management and delivery of measurable improvements.
Jack holds PhD and Master of Science degrees in computer sciences from Harvard University, an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the National Taiwan University. He speaks Mandarin, Taiwanese, English, and conversational Japanese.
