Eric Benedict

Eric is an experienced turnaround professional with both advisory and line management experience focused on working with the financial sponsors, boards of directors and management of companies to quickly diagnose causes of underperformance and then work hands-on to rapidly improve operating and financial health. Examples of his experience in recent years include:
  • Led successful transformation programmes within multinationals to achieve EBITDA growth by delivering cost synergies and clear customer focus to achieve revenue growth.
  • Led and structured several merger integrations in the UK cable and technology sectors.
  • Worked with a telco CEO on integration of a major acquisition to achieve synergies without damaging revenue line of target. This led to a reorganisation of the combined organisation.
  • Served as chairman of a UK based international telco networks programme management boutique.
  • For a PE sponsor and board of an underperforming financial services company, identified extent of management challenge and cash requirement and worked with management to develop an achievable plan to get the business back to breakeven. Led the team which worked hand-in-hand with management to ensure that key operational actions were accomplished.
  • For one of Germany’s leading engineering corporates, led a team which worked with the CFO of a troubled €3bn telco division on outsourcing key aspects of its cost structure in the lead-up to its disposal.
  • Acted as senior adviser to the board and the external advisory team which reviewed the strategy and performance of a quoted telco business. This work led to the replacement of CEO and significant changes to the operating model which resulted in an increase in reported EBITDA.
  • Retained by the board of a quoted technology PLC which had received a hostile bid. Led an international team to identify a turnaround plan for the California-based Telecoms Testing Unit which would have resulted in a $30-50m increase in EBITDA performance. Hostile bid went ahead and implemented substantial elements of the plan.
  • Worked with the board of a major shipping company to improve EBITDA performance of its Short-Sea Channel ferry operations, resulting in a £50m profit turnaround within a 12-month timeframe.
  • Undertook numerous substantial post-merger integration and M&A related assignments covering target identification, synergy evaluation and post-acquisition integration. Have also undertaken a number of corporate spin-offs and carve-outs.
