Michael Grindfors is a Vice Chairman at AlixPartners. He is an experienced line manager with a track record of substantial performance improvements and a seasoned consultant with extensive accomplishments in leading and growing consulting businesses. His combination of experience from the international consumer goods industry, management consulting, and investment banking, has taken him around the world working for several leading institutions in these fields. Michael has extensive experience from M&A situations not only as an investment banker but also from acquisition and integration work as both line manager and management consultant.
Michael previously held the position of Managing Director in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in London, where he focused on the Nordic region and helping companies with M&A opportunities and other investment banking support.
Prior to that, he spent 13 years with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where he was a Senior Vice President. He led the highly successful Nordic practice and subsequently was asked to lead the New York practice. In addition to his client and leadership responsibilities, Michael was a senior core member in the firm's Consumer Goods & Retail practice, the Senior Officer Screening Committee, Head of the Global People Team and BCG's Pricing Practice.
Prior to joining BCG, and between two phases at BCG, Michael led operational turnarounds for such international companies as Puma, maker of high-performance athletic shoes and apparel, as well as Etonic and Tretorn. As President of Etonic/Puma, Michael more than doubled both profitability and revenues. At Tretorn, in Germany, which had suffered several years of losses before his presidency, Michael reversed revenue slides, improved margins and lowered costs, taking the company to profitability.
A native of Sweden, Michael graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics. He has lived and worked in Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany. He is fluent in English, Swedish and German and speaks some Spanish.
