Laura has over 15 years of experience working with companies that face significant operational and financial challenges. She has led financial and operational restructuring programs for public and privately held companies in both interim management and advisory roles.
Examples of Laura’s experience include:
- Joint Chief Restructuring Officer at Stolt Offshore SA, a listed global offshore oil services business, which completed an $844m restructuring of its debt and other facilities. On completion of the restructuring, Laura was retained to advise Stolt on a subsequent refinancing of all its facilities. Stolt’s market capitalisation increased from under $200m to over $1billion during the period of AlixPartners’ engagement
- Advisor to a FTSE 250 manufacturing company on development and implementation of a £25M overhead reduction program
- Advisor to the Spanish subsidiary of a global food retailer on inventory reduction, resulting in a 20% reduction in stock holding and improvement in availability of fast-moving lines
- Restructuring advisor to UK electrical goods rental company, advising on development and implementation of exit strategy
- Interim management role at Marconi plc throughout its restructuring, responsible for cash generation and working capital management
- Financial and restructuring advisor to Hyder Consulting, a loss making global engineering consultancy and former subsidiary of Hyder plc. Following an MBO early in 2001 and a subsequent restructuring in 2002, Hyder Consulting became a fully listed company on the London Stock exchange via a reverse takeover
- Investment manager for The Thames Fund (TTF), a provider of debt finance to companies in turnaround and a joint venture with HSBC plc
- Interim finance director for a listed beverages manufacturer. Brought in to stabilise the business during a financial crisis and to facilitate a subsequent refinancing
Prior to joining AlixPartners, Laura was a director in Andersen’s Corporate Restructuring, Turnaround and Corporate Finance practices. She is a graduate of Oxford University, a Chartered Accountant and SFA Securities Representative. Laura is the co-author of Leading Corporate Turnaround, published by Wiley in 2006. She is a regular speaker at restructuring conferences and a guest lecturer for the MBA program at London Business School.
