David Garfield is a highly experienced consultant and manager who has developed and implemented successful strategies for a broad range of Fortune 500 and middle market businesses. David focuses on the manufacturing and consumer products sectors, with emphasis on the automotive industry. He helps clients increase profitability through major operational improvement initiatives such as manufacturing footprint optimization and product portfolio rationalization.
Prior to joining AlixPartners’ Performance Improvement practice, David served as the President and member of the Board of Directors for Encore Development. While at Encore, David developed and implemented a strategy for profitable growth, establishing a new Midwest Region and achieving double-digit revenue and profit growth.
Prior to Encore, David worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers as the Global Relationship Partner for the firm’s General Motors account, and a Practice Leader for Strategy Consulting. For General Motors, David led a broad range of major initiatives including supply chain cost reduction, overhead cost reduction, and marketing and sales strategy. For other key accounts, David led a range of key engagements including corporate strategy development, post-merger integration, and organizational restructuring.
David also served as a Marketing Analyst with Ford Motor Company where he designed and developed a new customer loyalty program as part of a new product launch. He also served as a strategy and operations consultant with Mercer Management Consulting.
David holds a Master of Management degree in finance and marketing from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and Bachelor of Arts degree (magna cum laude) in psychology from Williams College. David has spoken at a number of major business forums and has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology. He has been selected to serve as Mentor for Menttium 100, a leading executive-level mentoring association.
