AlixPartners Names General Counsel for Europe
LONDON (February 08, 2008) – AlixPartners, the global restructuring, consulting, and financial advisory firm, announced the appointment of Helena Samaha as General Counsel-Europe. She will be based in the firm’s Paris office.
Samaha is an experienced corporate lawyer who has handled a significant number of transactions spanning multiple industry sectors and jurisdictions, and has held senior positions both in-house and in private practice. Prior to joining AlixPartners, Samaha was a Partner in the global law firm of DLA Piper. Based in London in the Technology Media & Commercial group, she headed up the Commercial team which focused on cross-border joint ventures and strategic alliances.
Before that, Samaha held the position of Group Legal Director of the Virgin Group. Based in the group’s headquarters in London, she advised the executive team on transactions across the full range of industries and countries where the group was active. She set up the group’s first legal panel and managed relationships with external counsel, overseeing a significant legal spend and scope of activity. She was with the Virgin Group for seven years and won a number of awards during that time including The Lawyer Magazine’s Best In House Counsel of the Year.

She started her career as a banking and finance lawyer with Clifford Chance in London. She received her law degree from the Universite de Droit Assas-Pantheon in Paris in European anti-trust law and international business law, and her LL.M. in corporate and commercial law from Kings College in London. She is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.
