Healthcare Operational Improvement Case Studies
Post-Acquisition Integration for Hospital System
We performed a multi-entity acquisition assimilation on behalf of a for-profit, publicly traded hospital chain related to its acquisition of a not-for-profit hospital system. We standardized the critical operational and financial processes of the acquired facilities to mirror the operating structure of the acquirer. Our work improved the financial condition of our client, post-transaction and minimized the strain on our client’s limited internal resources. Our assimilation efforts were performed in significantly less time and utilized fewer internal resources than previous efforts performed by the client.
Reorganization of Underperforming Long-Term Care Provider
On behalf of an underperforming middle-market, long-term care operator with $120 million in revenues, we improved operational efficiency in the face of mounting pressures on reimbursement. We performed comprehensive operational and financial reviews of the operator’s long-term care facilities and its pharmaceutical distribution company, providing strategic advisory to senior management, performing financial analyses, and benchmarking against key operational indicators. Upon completing our analyses, we implemented initiatives that resulted in improved collections, streamlined supply chain, centralized admissions processes, a right-sized workforce and the installation of a project management system. We also instituted a complete reorganization of the finance division, including a consolidation of professional functions. Our efforts resulted in significantly improved financial health, improved operating efficiency and prepared our client for the potential adverse effects of healthcare reform.
