SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN (January 18, 2010) – AlixPartners, the global business advisory firm, today announced the addition of Michael Appel, who joins the firm’s Turnaround and Restructuring practice in New York as a director.
Appel has more than 35 years of experience leading and advising retail and consumer products companies. He has served as interim chief executive officer, interim chief operating officer, and financial advisor for many well known companies including Laura Ashley Ltd.; Caswell Massey Co. Ltd.; Ciro Inc.; MacKenzie-Childs Ltd.; and Wilkes Bashford Co. He has hands-on experience in multiple specialty wholesale categories, including apparel, home furnishings, and accessories. He has also provided strategic advisory, due diligence, and expert witness consulting services to retailers, financial institutions, and consumer product companies including Ford Motor Co., Whippoorwill Associates Inc., Castle Harlan Inc., and American International Group Inc. (AIG).
Appel holds an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in history from Brandeis University.
