Carmody, Kevin M.

Kevin specializes in complex corporate restructurings and reorganizations on behalf of distressed and underperforming companies and their stakeholders.  He regularly advises clients on a variety of financial and operational matters and has successfully led several comprehensive restructuring assignments that have strengthened the Company’s core operations while deleveraging the balance sheet.  Kevin recently completed an assignment as the Chief Restructuring Officer of Hayes Lemmerz, Inc., where he led a restructuring that resulted in the Company reducing its funded debt by 69%, eliminating its U.S. pension obligations through a consensual agreement with the PBGC, and raising $200M in exit financing.   Kevin has also testified as an expert witness in federal and state courts.

 
Kevin has broad industry experience that includes automotive, heavy manufacturing, distribution, financial services, consumer products, telecommunications, technology, home building, healthcare, real estate, semiconductor, and retail distribution. Kevin’s assignments have included:
 
  • Chief Restructuring Officer of Hayes-Lemmerz , a $1.2B tier 1 automotive supplier
  • Financial Advisor to the unsecured creditors’ committee of WorldCom
  • Restructuring advisor to Dura Automotive, a $1.1B tier 1 auto supplier
  • Restructuring Advisor to the senior note holders of ACE Hardware
  • Financial advisor to a $300 million semiconductor supplier
  • Bank Advisor to the senior lenders of a $200 million consumer products co-packaging company
  • Bank Advisor to the senior lenders of a $400 million industrial manufacturer

 

Kevin holds an MBA from The University of Detroit-Mercy and a BBA from Western Michigan University. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association, American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors. He is a frequent speaker at various industry events.
