Michelle Campbell Ross is a lawyer and consultant and a member of AlixPartners’ Information Management Services team where she provides strategic communications and litigation management services. She consults with clients to strategically plan stakeholder communications and claims management campaigns in mergers & acquisitions, liquidations, restructurings, Chapter 11’s, commercial litigation, investigations and crisis situations. Michelle works closely with management, private equity firms, corporate communications groups, lawyers, and financial advisors to develop tailored communications programs for creditors, employees, customers, suppliers, shareholders and other audiences affected by litigation and corporate initiatives. She is known for developing and executing transparent processes that create a level playing field for many different adversarial parties. Michelle is effective based upon her ability to relate to diverse audiences, including the most sophisticated CEO’s down to rank and file employees who need to understand basic information about how corporate actions will affect their jobs and lives.

Michelle has prepared some of the largest companies in the world for game-changing corporate announcements, including spin-offs, consolidations and entry into Chapter 11. She does not have a “one size fits all” approach – her experience representing companies at a global law firm enables her to be versatile and tailor services to the client’s interests and most critical needs. Recent engagements include:

  • Driving stakeholder communications planning for General Motors Corporation’s Chapter 11 case
  • Serving as the corporate communications lead during the consolidation of four separate businesses necessitating development of programs for employees concerning new contracts, policies and procedures, employee retention programs and large IT implementation projects
  • Providing strategic communications counsel to a publicly traded transportation company in connection with the spin-off of a business
  • Providing communications services and Chapter 11 process expertise to BearingPoint, FairPoint Communications, Metromedia Steakhouses Co., Jones Stephens Corp, Stallion Oilfield Corp., Asyst Technologies, Reader’s Digest, Charys, and Levitt and Sons

Michelle earned her BA in international relations from the University of Southern California and her law degree from Southern Methodist University. She regularly provides thought leadership, having spoken on numerous panels and published multiple articles where she provides “plain English” tips and advice concerning claims administration and stakeholder communications. Before leaving the practice of law, Michelle was selected by Turnarounds and Workouts Magazine as one of the nation’s 14 Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers. Michelle serves on the Board of Directors of Women in E-Discovery and is a recurring member of the Annual Photography Benefit Committee for InMotion, an organization offering hope to low-income women who need free legal services.
