Fitzpatrick, David A.

David Fitzpatrick has 29 years of industry and consulting experience in operations, product development, supply chain management, and international sales. Most of his career has been in high-engineering-content industries such as aerospace, automotive, airline operations, and industrial products. His experience is well balanced between business start-up and growth activities through new product introductions, and performance improvement for mature companies, often by way of creative and large-scale applications of Lean and Six Sigma principles. He was among the earliest pioneers of Lean in aerospace and in product development environments. David has extensive international experience in Europe, Asia, Australia, and southern Africa. Before joining AlixPartners, he was a principal at Deloitte Consulting and at Archstone Consulting, where he served as founder and leader of their Operations Excellence practices.

David's client experience includes:

  • Reconfiguring the operations of a major landing gear overhaul provider to reduce turnaround times and enhance ROIC
  • Restoring engineering, program management, and supply chain functions on a troubled aircraft system development project, thereby helping to avoid a potential contract default and moving the client toward preferred supplier status
  • Developing a new engineering management system for the US operations of an international automotive company
  • Developing a product complexity management approach and system which spanned design, supply chain, and sales operations for a global office equipment manufacturer
  • Assisting a US western state government with development of a successful business support campaign intended to keep aerospace production jobs from migrating to different locales
  • Leading the consulting team assisting with a large-scale, long-term transformation of a major Pacific Rim airline’s engineering and maintenance operation via Lean and Six Sigma applications

David holds a Master of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MBA from the University of Puget Sound, and a bachelor’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University.
