Fitzsimmons, Peter D.

Peter is Co-President of AlixPartners and Co-Head of the North American Turnaround and Restructuring Practice. He specializes in stabilizing and turning around underperforming companies and providing financial restructuring advice to senior executives and creditor groups.

Peter joined AlixPartners in 1995 and has significant U.S. and international experience. Across a 20-year career, Peter has worked on restructurings in a number of industries including retail, real estate, automotive, commercial printing, telecommunications and food and dairy. He has worked in restructurings in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Sweden and Turkey.

Peter has been successful as both an interim executive and as a financial advisor. His recent advisory assignments include:

  • Advising senior management and the Board of Directors of an $800 million revenue retail home products company in the U.S.
  • Advising senior management of a large global insurance company undergoing a difficult government-subsidized restructuring
  • Advising senior management and the Board of Directors of a UK-based retail business
  • Advising senior management of several global automotive companies during refinancing of their businesses


Peter holds a master of business administration degree from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a bachelor of arts degree from Harvard College. He is a frequent lecturer on restructuring and had guest lectured to graduate business school students at Harvard, Dartmouth, Columbia and London Business Schools.
