Laurence, Charles W.
Charlie is a managing director of AlixPartners’ financial advisory services practice and is based in New York. He has 23 years of experience as a financial consultant specializing in forensic investigations, litigation consulting, auditing and due diligence. Prior to joining AlixPartners, Charlie was a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers, in the firm's Dispute Analysis and Investigations practice in New York.

He has performed a wide range of investigations resulting in expert testimony, arbitration submissions and reports and presentations to the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Justice. His experience includes:
  • Numerous accounting and internal control analyses in connection with class action suits, SEC/DOJ investigations and purchase price disputes. The analysis he has performed includes revenue recognition, reserve estimates, contingent liabilities, review of internal controls and accounting systems, cost allocations, loss of profit claims, damage calculations, breach of contract and royalty disputes and negligence proceedings.
  • FCPA analysis includes global reviews for compliance as well as targeted investigations of known issues. He has been responsible for over fifty reviews in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.
  • The audit of major North American and British companies (including multinationals) across a number of industries, principally publishing, manufacturing, venture capital, high technology, and real estate.
  • His clients have included Microsoft, UBS, HealthSouth, Tyco, NEC, McAfee, GE Capital, Shell, Ford, Barclays, Bristol Myers-Squibb and IBM.

Charlie holds a BA degree in business studies with honors from Middlesex University, London. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and he is a member of the Association of Chartered Accountants in the United States. He is an associate member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He has authored various articles and publications on securities litigation trends and issues.
