Alan Lee is a Managing Director with AlixPartners in the Financial Advisory Services practice. He joined the firm in 2006 and works from the Chicago office. Alan is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in management buyouts, private equity/venture capital acquisitions, and in raising new capital (both debt and equity).
On numerous occasions, Alan has assisted business owners in developing their succession/liquidity plans followed by guidance through the liquidity transaction via the Leveraged Employee Stock Ownership Plan (Leveraged ESOP) alternative, sale of the business to a third party, leveraged recapitalization, or the Initial Public Offering (IPO) process.
Over the 25 year period prior to joining AlixPartners, he served a broad range of clients as a partner in the middle market advisory services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). In addition, for the period from 1989 to 1995 Alan served as the regional managing partner of PwC’s corporate finance group. Throughout his career at PwC, he held the role of engagement partner for numerous private manufacturing, distribution, and service companies and mid-cap public companies. His extensive experience includes serving clients in the following industries: apparel and sporting goods, automotive parts and equipment, beverage, building products, electrical distribution, entertainment, food (dairy, candy, snacks), health care products and services, professional services, and private equity.
Alan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Hunter College, an MBA in marketing from the University of Illinois, and an MA from Northwestern University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed to practice in Illinois. He is also a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants (ISCPA), and the ESOP Association.
