David is a deeply experienced restructuring professional. Before joining AlixPartners, he was a partner with Andersen for eighteen years. He formed Andersen’s London turnaround practice in the early 1990s and subsequently led the Global Turnaround practice.

Examples of David’s recent experience are as follows:

• Lead turnaround advisor to Bohemia Crystalex Trading and Porcela Plus in the Czech Republic
• Lead turnaround and restructuring advisor to MFI plc, including arranging new £150m bank facility and obtaining Pension Regulator clearance
• Lead turnaround and restructuring advisor to the JAL Group, a leading European manufacturer of specialist footwear
• Advisory partner on restructuring engagement at Jarvis plc following appointment of AlixPartners as Chief Restructuring Officer
• Chief Restructuring Officer of Stolt Offshore SA, a $1.5 bn global offshore contracting company with borrowings in excess of $700m
• Lead turnaround and restructuring advisor to Boxclever Ltd, a UK electrical retail group with borrowings in excess of £700m
• Restructuring advisor to DTI and Treasury relating to management and mitigation of decommissioning and reprocessing liabilities at British Nuclear Fuels Ltd
• Lead partner in relationship with Arcadia plc during the reorganisation introduced by newly appointed Chief Executive, acting as lead advisor to management team on sponsored MBO
• Lead advisor to Hyder Consulting Ltd, the global engineering consultancy firm bought out of Hyder plc. Lead adviser to management team on their buyout, subsequent operational restructuring, and float through a reverse takeover
• Lead advisor on restructuring of Co-operative Retail Services Ltd, the largest retail co-operative in Europe, culminating in a £2 bn merger with the Co-operative Wholesale Society.

David is the joint author of Corporate Turnaround, published in 1999, and Leading Corporate Turnaround, published in 2005, and regularly speaks at professional conferences. In December 2007, David was named Turnaround Professional of the Year by the Society of Turnaround Professionals where he is a fellow.
