Tsutomu has nearly two decades of experience in management consulting and financial institutions. Prior to joining AlixPartners, Tsutomu was the CFO with Unison Capital, Inc. in Tokyo, one of the Japanese private equity pioneers. He was responsible for fundraising and investor relationships, monitoring of portfolio companies, and administration management of buyout funds that the company managed. Before that, he was with KPMG Transaction Services in the US, and with McKinsey & Company, where he provided transaction-related strategic and business consulting services to Japanese companies and their US operations. He started his career at Long-Term Credit Bank of Japan (LTCB) where he worked in the bank’s fixed income businesses. As CFO at Unison, Tsutomu successfully raised $500 million for the firm’s top-up fund targeted at large opportunities. He also managed a fund-administration team for Unison’s $1.1 billion funds. As a consultant, he has worked in a variety of industries. While at LTCB, he spent two years at UBS Warburg in London to accelerate alliance initiatives between LTCB and Warburg in capital market businesses. Tsutomu holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Keio University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is fluent in Japanese and English.
