Lisa Ahern, a Managing Director in the Chicago office of AlixPartners, is experienced in providing advisory and consulting services to clients on a wide array of financial matters with particular expertise in the preparation, analysis and rebuttal of claims for entities involved in litigation and alternative dispute resolution processes.

Ms. Ahern has expertise in advising clients on damages issues involved in intellectual property matters, including matters of patent, trademark and copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation and false advertising. She is frequently engaged to assess damages in patent infringement matters, requiring in-depth knowledge and understanding of the evolving body of law. Ms. Ahern has served as an expert and has rendered expert testimony in intellectual property and other matters.

Ms. Ahern also has significant experience in advising healthcare and life science organizations on various financial issues. In particular, she has conducted analyses related to breaches of contract, matters of antitrust, accounting malpractice, reimbursement rate disputes, and intellectual property matters. Ms. Ahern has performed efficiency studies on behalf of healthcare entities and has advised on and assisted clients in licensing medical technologies. In addition, she has conducted compliance reviews related to healthcare billing systems and has performed royalty audits on behalf of publicly-traded, for-profit healthcare corporations.

Ms. Ahern also has experience in advising creditors’ committees and debtors on a broad range of bankruptcy issues including solvency, fraudulent conveyance, and preference actions. In these matters, she has prepared damages analyses related to, for example, accounting misstatements and breaches of director and officer fiduciary duties.

Ms. Ahern provides these and other services to clients in a wide range of industries, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, electronics, computer and Internet technology, consumer products, gaming, manufacturing, oil and gas, and financial and professional services.

Before joining AlixPartners, Ms. Ahern was a Senior Manager in the Litigation Advisory Services practice at Ernst & Young. Prior to her work at Ernst & Young, she provided litigation consulting services as a member of the Dispute Analysis and Corporate Recovery group of Price Waterhouse.

Ms. Ahern holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics with honors and distinction, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Iowa. She is an associate member of the American Bar Association, Sections of Intellectual Property and Litigation, and is a member of the Licensing Executives Society, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Business Valuation Association. Ms. Ahern is a Certified Licensing Professional, a designation granted by the Licensing Executives Society.
