Shetty, Sanjay

Sanjay Shetty is a Managing Director in the Southfield office of AlixPartners and co-leads the North America Procurement practice. He has over twenty years of experience in management consulting, project management, and engineering in the Food, Retail, Industrial Manufacturing and Automotive industries. His primary area of expertise is in procurement and supply chain optimization.

Sanjay has worked in several countries and has helped several clients successfully implement supply chain strategies in China, India and Mexico. He is one of the firm’s leading procurement experts and has worked as interim-CPO for several clients. Before joining AlixPartners, Sanjay was a senior Manager with A.T. Kearney. Prior to that he worked for several years at Johnson Controls, Inc. where he held several senior positions in Engineering and Program Management.

  • Served as interim head of procurement for a major US retailer and achieved cost savings of over $20MM in indirect spend categories in addition to building a sustainable organization with supporting policies, processes and tools.
  • Led client procurement teams at several fashion apparel retailers in achieving over 10% savings in not-for-resale categories.
  • Managed the turnaround of the Procurement organization of a major food distribution company with a spend of over $12B. The 2-year engagement entailed a CPO support role working on commodity strategy development, strategic sourcing, mega-supplier negotiations, contract re-structuring, organization restructuring, development of a Program Management Office (PMO), staff training and development, working capital improvement and I/B freight optimization.
  • Worked with the CEO of a major Automotive OEM in South Africa to develop a complete business turnaround plan.
  • Lead the performance improvement of a $200MM manufacturing company, including an interim CPO role.
  • Achieved over $100MM in procurement cost reductions engagements at Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers by implementing effective procurement and innovative sourcing and supply chain management strategies.
