Wicks, Pippa

Pippa combines a variety of line management experiences – including CEO, COO and CFO – with extensive advisory experience for companies not achieving their full potential and companies requiring a significant turnaround.

Examples of her experience include:

  • As interim COO for a $2bn UK kitchen retailer and manufacturing plc, Pippa lead a variety of work streams, including the development of a 3-year business plan to enable the company to refinance (the business ultimately performed on plan), and the reorganisation of manufacturing facilities (including the closure of two plants and increasing low cost sourcing and supply chain modifications). She lead the operational improvement of the troubled retail business and its subsequent sale, and developed growth plans for the strongly performing trade business.
  • As interim CEO of a Scandinavian furniture retailer Pippa lead the financial restructuring and operational turnaround. The business was successfully sold after 8 months.
  • For a $3bn UK food manufacturing plc with 36 plants, Pippa lead several streams of work including the centralisation of procurement and identification and implementation of a 10% savings within 9 month, and a 15% savings in both overheads and manufacturing through factory rationalization and changes to the role of HQ vs plants/divisions.
  • For a $12bn global consumer goods manufacturing plc, Pippa led the set-up, delivery and global roll-out planning for a $300m working capital improvement initiative, covering payables, receivables and inventory in five countries across three regions (USA, Europe, Asia Pacific). She coordinated multiple functions (sales, manufacturing, and supply chain) to achieve consensus and action to achieve planned working capital savings of $200m.
  • In a $70bn global retail plc, Pippa again led the set-up, piloting and roll-out of an inventory reduction programme that achieved a 25-30% reduction in inventory through implementation of statistical stock processes and supply chain adjustments.

Prior to joining AlixPartners, Pippa was the Group CEO of FT Knowledge, a corporate training business owned by Pearson plc. She was also previously Group CFO of Courtaulds Textiles plc, Europe’s largest quoted textile and clothing manufacturer with €3.5 billion sales operating in ten countries worldwide. Before that, she was a Senior Manager with Bain & Company strategy consultants.

Pippa holds a Science Master’s degree from Oxford University, and a diploma in corporate finance from London Business School. She is currently a non-executive Director of Ladbrokes plc, and was previously non-executive Director with Hilton International plc and Arcadia plc (UK’s second largest fashion retailer).
