Zeller, Roman

Roman is a professional with 22 year of experience in the development and execution of operational, organizational, financial, and strategic restructuring and improvement initiatives for comprehensive value creation, both for large corporations and mid-sized companies. He has gathered substantive experience as Chief Restructuring Officer in multiple turnarounds. He is particularly adept at cost management, reorganizations, supply chain management, portfolio management, M&A and post-merger integration. He is Co-Leader of the European Operations Team for Enterprise Improvement. He opened the AlixPartners’ Munich office in 2003, joining the firm from Bain & Company where he was a partner, founding member of the private equity consulting practice, and global co-head of the supply chain practice.

Roman has been involved in the design and implementation of more than a dozen large-scale transformation programs aimed at comprehensive increases of stakeholder value. He has primarily been working with clients in process industries (aluminum, steel, refractories, chemicals), the industrial goods sector (OEMs, auto suppliers, packaging, engineering, utilities), and in consumer goods and retail. Assignments include:

  • Leading the successful turnaround of a €700m industrial equipment and engineering company as Chief Restructuring Officer
  • Leading a major post-merger integration program for a German Dax-30 company
  • Leading a global purchasing reorganization and optimization program for a German DAX-30 company
  • Leading a comprehensive working capital reduction program for a leading department store chain in Germany, including the re-negotiation of existing supply contracts with the company‘s top 500 suppliers
  • Designing and leading full potential programs in large and mid-sized industrial companies, public, and PE-owned


Roman holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, a Diplomökonom from the University of Augsburg, Germany, and is a fellow of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.
