Marshall, Joseph H.

Jay is a Managing Director at AlixPartners and also leads the Firm’s strategy and business development activities.  Most of his client work is for private equity firms in due diligence and performance improvement.

Prior to joining AlixPartners, Jay was a Vice President in the Energy Practice of Booz Allen Hamilton (now Booz & Co.) and Managing Partner of the firm’s Dallas office.  While at Booz, Jay was one of the leaders of the Post Merger Integration team and developed the Firm’s first intellectual capital in change management and leadership.

Jay is an experienced engagement manager, specializing in large corporate transformations that run the gamut from strategy to near term profit improvement to organizational development.  He has significant functional experience in corporate and business unit strategy, process design, change management, leadership, and post merger integration.

He has spent over twenty-five years in management consulting, applying these skills across a variety of industries.  Jay has led a number of assignments in multiple industries --  most frequently in Energy, CPG, and Retail.  As an example, Jay recently led an engagement to help an online retailer compete with a much larger entrant in their space by streamlining their supply chain operations.

Jay holds a BSE in chemical engineering from Princeton University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a Sord Scholar and received the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence.  He is past Chairman of the Board of The Dallas Opera and has served on other arts boards in Dallas.  Jay was named to the inaugural class of Henry Crown Fellows of the Aspen Institute and is also a moderator at the Institute.  Jay is also Non Executive Chairman of the Board of XS, Inc., an agricultural SaaS (Software as a Service) company.
