What you’ll do

This role will support our EMEA practices in the UK, as well as working closely with the EMEA People team and the EMEA and US resourcing teams.

The Turnaround & Restructuring Services (TRS) practice is experiencing significant growth. The Digital Services (DIG) transform companies for a digital world by combining operations and technology excellence that fully leverages the confluence of recent technology advancements. We utilize our suite of Digital insights for this transformation. The Digital team has a unique combination of business specialists, elite data scientists and seasoned IT experts supported by cyber risk veterans that work together to enable high performing business results, while managing risks in the digital domain.

An opportunity has become available for UK Staffing Manager role in London. The role of the Staffing Manager is to ensure that the business remains agile in its response to client demands and has the right people deployed on the right projects at the right time.

The role-holder will need to be a committed individual, who combines high emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills.  They will thrive in a reactive fast-paced environment, be comfortable managing conflicting priorities and have the gravitas to influence a team of challenging senior stakeholders. They will also be a champion for thoughtful staffing, driving a balance between the career development of our client-facing staff and the needs of the business.

To be successful, the role-holder will need to immerse themselves into the relevant practices working closely with the Managing Directors (MDs), Directors of Talent Management (DTMs), the Head of UK Staffing and local recruitment teams. Relationship building, stakeholder management and an understanding of the nature of the projects and the business will therefore be pivotal for success in this role. Existing knowledge/previous experience of working within the relevant practices would be highly advantageous.

What you'll do

  • Work closely with MDs and Directors to understand the resourcing needs of each project and continually evaluate the progress of projects in order to adjust resourcing levels accordingly.
  • Deal with staffing issues as they arise on projects by proposing creative solutions to MDs and Directors. In order to achieve an optimal result, you must be prepared to question and challenge as appropriate. 
  • Understand the skills and abilities of our client-facing staff and ensure people with the appropriate skills and experience are deployed on the right projects, balancing both the needs of the business with those of the individual.
  • Provide strategic oversight and manage resources effectively by monitoring utilization statistics.
  • Identify and propose solutions to resolve longer term patterns of over and underutilization via tracking, maintaining and reporting on operational effectiveness and utilization.
  • Work with individuals, their career coaches and DTMs to assess development needs from a project exposure perspective and schedule work accordingly, therefore supporting individual career planning.
  • Participate in mid-year and year-end performance review sessions to input case specific feedback and capture any feedback to help inform future resourcing decisions.
  • Be instrumental in providing ‘best practice’ guidance to other resourcing colleagues in EMEA, ensure the resourcing system is operating effectively, and the resourcing process is fully integrated with the business.
  • Continuously seek to improve and strengthen the resourcing processes both in the UK and throughout EMEA.
  • Identify and collaborate with the Talent team to share knowledge and highlight any internal talent or development issues/case feedback with the Talent Management team.
  • Share knowledge with resourcing teams throughout EMEA and the US to ensure the best use of available resource globally.
  • Ensure the resourcing system appropriately reflects people’s forecast utilization and that this is updated daily.
  • Deliver weekly MI reporting and analysis.
  • Promote the use of DBP (Development Based Projects) for new joiners.
  • Promote the use of EOP (Engagement Onboarding Protocols)

What you’ll need

  • Consulting or professional services background is required
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Strong presentation skills and an excellent working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent)
  • Gravitas and personal impact required to work with and influence a team of challenging senior stakeholders, including MDs both within the team and in the wider firm.
  • An ability to negotiate, challenge and influence at all levels.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet challenging deadlines.
  • A sense of urgency with an ability and willingness to respond and adapt to changing situations quickly.
  • Approachable and able to tailor communication style to people at all levels of the organization.
  • Has a collaborative approach, possesses strong communication skills and is a natural communicator.
  • Ability to develop and maintain highly effective relationships.
  • Is open minded, agile with change and practical.
