Meet the real: Luis Mora-Silva
Meet Luis Mora-Silva. Based in London, Luis is an associate in our Investigations, Disputes & Risk practice and a member of our Hispanics or Latinos of AlixPartners (HOLA) employee resource group. In his Q&A, Luis shares a place he'd like to visit, his go-to dish when cooking for guests, and more.
Q: Have you always lived in your current city? If not, where have you lived and what brought you to your current location?
A: Before moving to London, I was in my home country, Colombia, and living in Bogota. I have always been attracted to English culture and moved initially just to study there. But I ended up meeting my wife here and settled in London.
Q: For those visiting your current city, what is one place you'd tell them to visit (must-see)?
A: If you're ever in London, you must see Waxy O’Connor. It is an Irish pub in SoHo. I like the vibe and the fact that it is a labyrinth built around a tree root.
Q: What is your favorite (best/worst/funniest) travel memory?
A: On a flight from London to Stockholm, I met three gentlemen from Spain and one of them told me that he was excited to buy a watch on this trip because the watches are good in Switzerland. Then I remember watching him get upset with his friends when they explained to him that the flight was going to Sweden and not Switzerland!
Q: - What do you do to relieve stress?
A: When I have the opportunity, I love playing squash.
Q: What is your go-to dish when cooking for guests?
A: A dish I like to call Mexican lasagna. It is basically a lasagna, but I replaced the pasta with nachos.
Q: Tell us about a song that reminds you of a favorite time in your life.
A: Can You Feel the Love Tonight. It was playing in the operating room right after my first daughter was born.
Q: Name a high spot of working at AlixPartners.
A: Definitely the ability to work with a high caliber team of driven and intelligent colleagues.
