In honor of National Military Appreciation Month in the US and Armed Forces Day in the UK, AlixPartners celebrates our people—and their families—who have served in the armed forces. We are proud to share their stories and perspectives on how to honor and support our veterans.

— Jon Rigby, Director, London

Jon Rigby joined the Royal Air Force in 1983 as an electronics engineer. He commanded in every rank and served in the Falkland Islands, Germany, Cyprus, and Iraq—in intelligence and IT roles. He served as the deputy CIO for the Air Force (ACOS A6) and the deputy Head of Intelligence for Multinational Forces Iraq (Deputy C2). He attended the Advanced and Higher Staff Courses and the Royal College of Defence Studies. His final role was as an Air Vice-Marshal (two-star) responsible for intelligence collection and analysis, cybersecurity, electronic warfare, and operational information systems. He was appointed OBE in 2001 and CPE in 2012. Jon retired from the Air Force in March 2015 and joined AlixPartners in June 2015.

After 22 years at the firm, Sharyn Doyle retired in June 2017. Sharyn’s family’s ties to the military span four generations and two branches of the armed services. Her grandson Justin enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2016 and is stationed in Fort Campbell, KY. Sharyn’s father, son and brother served and her nephew is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps.

Philipp served in the Austrian army for 11 years and studied at the Theresian Military Academy before becoming an officer. During his career, he has led military units of up to 80 soldiers, headed various departments in an armored infantry battalion’s management, and served as an intelligence officer. He participated in two peacekeeping operations—one in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one in Lebanon.
