Mitchell started his career in the finance department of the Walt Disney Company, where he assessed various of the company’s central Florida business units for unusual financial activity. He also regularly advised Disney’s food and beverage management on policy design and control weakness identification and participated in early control testing for Disney’s $1B investment in the MyMagic+ digital infrastructure, where he optimized control design and guest experience and made recommendations to the leadership team.
Mitchell has a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Connecticut. His certified public accountant, Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Certified Internal Auditor licenses supplement his experience in implementing finance department best practices. Mitchell regularly teaches CMA exam material to chief financial officers, controllers, and other accounting professionals. Topics include activity-based costing, cost allocation methods, costing techniques, cash flow optimization, and inventory fundamentals.
