Early interests

I was born and raised in Satu Mare, a diverse county in Romania that borders Hungary and Ukraine. Growing up in this culturally rich environment spurred my interest in local and national history. In high school, this interest led me to spend my free time researching in local archives, competing in history competitions, and writing a book that was eventually published by a local publishing house. These experiences drove my decision to pursue my undergraduate studies in history at the University College London’s Schools of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies.

Customer Scientist

After university, I relocated to Manchester to work at an e-commerce company’s internal consulting division. This is where I first learned about Customer Science, which uses customer data insights to drive business decision-making. I spent my time researching, building automated reports, and providing analytical support to stakeholders such as traders and brand managers.

I had a great support system—a wonderful manager and team that helped me get equipped with the foundational skills of a data analyst—but I missed my friends and London.

Analytics Graduate

I moved back to London to be part of a rotational graduate program at a fashion retailer, where I spent every six months on a new team in the Insights & Analytics department. My first rotation was within the Data Analytics team, which ensured analysts had the data they needed and in the required format. During my time there, the team was focused on the migration process of the entire database from in-house storage to a cloud-based environment, presenting me with the opportunity to work directly with data engineers and gain more technical skills.

During the program, I was recruited for a consulting role at a boutique digital marketing and analytics consultancy. Although I did not have experience in the consulting industry, I loved the idea of collaborating with companies on a variety of business-related problems using different quantitative and qualitative methods. The consultancy also offered me the opportunity to work with a variety of consumer brands and to progress more quickly.

Digital Insights Consultant

As a Digital Insights Consultant, I provided the client insights and analyses on aspects such as consumer habits, interests and preferences, competitor activity, and product reviews. We made strategic recommendations in terms of product development, positioning, and marketing campaign opportunities. I started as an analyst, before progressing to be the maternity cover for the Ice Cream & Snacking Lead, and eventually a Cross-Category Lead.

For my next role, I wanted to join a firm where I could focus more on advancing my technical skills and working on diverse critical problems.

Risk Analytics Consultant at AlixPartners

I was attracted to AlixPartners because of its distinctive working model. Our teams consist of experienced and expert consultants, and working alongside these seasoned professionals on complex cases presents me with a remarkable chance for growth. Most importantly, the firm is invested in employees’ wellbeing and career development, offering an inclusive and welcoming environment to grow and use your full potential.

I joined the Risk Analytics team because I wanted to build upon the technical skills I developed earlier in my career. I extract and prepare data, conduct analyses, and create visualizations to uncover and communicate valuable insights for clients. It has been wonderful so far. I love challenging myself and expanding my knowledge while making an impact for our clients!
