In late February, my wife and I learned that our second baby would be arriving early. Although I had planned ahead for a leisurely transition off my project in mid-March, clearly the baby had other plans. When we talk about “family first” values here at AlixPartners, we really mean it. The team and my MD rallied to support me during a very rapid (one week) transition – making sure the client work would continue on pace while I turned my focus to the delivery. Our baby arrived three days later, and the firm’s family leave policy provided me with much needed time to get my wife back to health and find a new routine for our now family of four.

After six years inside a global, publicly traded corporation and 15 years in management consulting, I was looking for a role where I could help build an industry practice. I also wanted to be more focused on performance improvement projects in special situations, with a more practical, hands-on and results-oriented approach.
