WHAT YOU’LL DO IN THIS ROLE

Reporting to the EMEA Head of People Business Partnering, the People Business Partner (PBP) for Germany and Switzerland acts as a trusted and integral part of the German and Swiss leadership team. Working with both the leadership team and consultant population, this role will shape the local people strategy which is aligned with the firm’s overarching goals and will drive engagement and retention. The role is also responsible for contributing to global projects and the EMEA strategy.

The PBP works within a global matrix structure ensuring balance between the global, local market and wider team demands. An integrated approach to the following people activities is essential to embed a culture and working practices that support our strategy - performance management, talent management, career development, succession planning, training, coaching and mentoring, headcount planning, engagement and reward.

Overview of responsibilities:

  • First contact point for client services colleagues regarding talent management and development. Sought out as a subject matter expert by senior leadership
  • Partner with the Partner & Managing Directors (PMDs) to plan and execute the people strategy in support of the local market strategy and the firm’s overarching strategy
  • Introduce, lead and influence change initiatives and embed a continuous improvement approach within both the local markets and the PBP team
  • Accountability for improving retention: cultivate and implement strategies to attract, retain and motivate talented and engaged employees.
  • Coaches Senior Leadership to understand and execute on the level that drives engagement, fosters an inclusive environment and creates a great experience for people working at AlixPartners
  • Accountability for improving diversity targets within the country and for leading EMEA and/or global D&I initiatives
  • Act as a trusted and integral part of the leadership team
  • Act as the conscience of the business to ensure they are aligned to the strategy and act as the ‘gatekeeper’ on all important people related decisions
  • Lead EMEA-wide PBP projects

Overview of tasks:

You will be the people interface of the business and will work with various stakeholders:

  • with MDs and Finance to assess headcount plans using effective succession planning
  • with the Talent Acquisition team to develop and support effective hiring strategies
  • with the People Operations team to proactively identify potential issues, manage performance, underperformance, flexible working etc.
  • with the Learning and Development team to identify training needs and deliver appropriate solutions by working with internal resources and external vendors
  • with the Staffing Manager to optimally resource client engagement whilst balancing career development and goals of consultants as well as the needs of the business

Further tasks include:

  • Seek regular feedback from the business and tailor local initiatives aligned to global strategy and business needs
  • Actively participate in senior leadership meetings
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the firm’s strategy, business drivers, all other geographies and be able to effectively communicate these both internally and externally and perpetuate the firm
  • Ensure an appropriate career development framework with regular, honest, and transparent messaging around performance management and the promotions process embedding a continuous feedback culture
  • Ensure reward decisions integrate with the performance management process to drive high performance and work closely with the global team to review the firm wide compensation benchmarking information ensuring our approach remains competitive
  • Coach leaders to develop their people leadership skills and be their first line support for advice and counsel on all people related matters
  • Lead people initiatives and manage project teams
  • Coach and manage local PBP team.
  • Ensure the team is set up to effectively support local leaders, industry and service line leaders
  • Develop trusted relationships and interface effectively with senior leadership and consultants, Corporate Services colleagues and external networks

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE 

Qualifications

  • Ideally bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • of 9 years professional experience (for example as senior HR manager, HR business partner level) preferably within a professional services firm
  • Proven track record of adding value and taking a strategic and commercial approach
  • Solid experience of performance management, talent management and coaching
  • Knowledge or experience with organisational development and change management
  • Business focused mindset
  • German and English fluency is a necessity
