AlixPartners again served as exclusive advisor in the selection process

NEW YORK (May 8, 2018) – AlixPartners, the global consulting firm, today extended its congratulations to Marillyn Hewson, Chairman, President and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp., who has been named “Chief Executive of the Year” for 2018 by Chief Executive magazine. This marks the second year that AlixPartners has served as exclusive advisor to the organization’s selection committee.

“It gives AlixPartners great pleasure to congratulate Marillyn Hewson on winning this prestigious award, and to help showcase the values, beliefs and behaviors of a genuine leader,” said Ted Bililies, PhD, Global Head of the Organization & Transformative Leadership practice at AlixPartners, Chief Talent Officer at the firm and the expert who served as the exclusive advisor to the selection committee. “In our day-to-day work at AlixPartners, we encounter some of the best leaders that business has to offer, but I know I speak for our entire selection committee in saying that Marillyn has a combination of leadership qualities that are rare indeed.”

In addition to Dr. Bililies, the 2018 selection committee was composed of Stan Bergman, Chairman and CEO of Henry Schein Inc. (and the CEO of the Year award-winner for 2017); Dan Glaser, President and CEO of Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc.; Fred Hassan, Managing Director of Warburg Pincus LLC; Tamara Lundgren, President and CEO of Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc.; Bob Nardelli, CEO of XLR-8 LLC; Thomas Quinlan III, Chairman and CEO of LSC Communications Inc.; Jeffery Sonnenfeld, President and CEO of the Yale School of Management’s Chief Executive Leadership Institute; and Mark Weinberger, Chairman and CEO of EY Ltd.

For the selection process, CEOs were nominated for the award by their peers via a ballot through Chief Executive magazine and online at ChiefExecutive.net. The 10 most-frequently nominated CEOs were considered finalists.

“Great CEOs position their companies to be at the forefront of their industries, focus on being nimble enough to adapt to ever-changing trends and are courageous enough to continue scaling towards triumph in spite of any roadblocks,” said Fred Crawford, Senior Vice Chair of AlixPartners. “In a company with the size and scope of Lockheed Martin, that’s no easy feat—but Marillyn has certainly earned the respect of her peers on many levels.”

The CEO of the Year will be celebrated on the cover of the summer issue of Chief Executive magazine, and the winner will be honored at an award dinner in late July at the United Nations Headquarters building in New York. Simon Freakley, CEO of AlixPartners, will be among the speakers at the event.
