Gerrit brings deep experience across management consulting and industry, having held senior leadership roles in the steel, energy, and technology sectors. He specializes in procurement, supply chain transformation, and cost reduction for industrial and automotive clients.
Before joining AlixPartners, Gerrit served as Vice President of Procurement at Severstal North America, where he oversaw a $3.5 billion global supply chain for one of the largest steelmakers in the United States. In that role, he led large‑scale sourcing and procurement initiatives, driving significant cost reductions and contributing to a material improvement in EBITDA.
Previously, Gerrit was a principal at E.ON, one of the world’s largest investor‑owned utilities, and chief operating officer at Guardhat, a technology provider serving industrial customers. Earlier in his career, he worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company.
Gerrit has led procurement and supply chain transformations for private equity and corporate clients across North America and globally, delivering savings of 20–40 percent across direct material and indirect spend categories, stabilizing disrupted supply bases, and optimizing sourcing strategies for complex, highly technical supply chains.
He holds a PhD in Technology Management from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and a master’s degree in business and engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany.
