AlixPartners has worked with clients around the world for more than forty years, helping businesses respond to challenges when everything is on the line—from urgent performance improvement to complex restructuring, from risk mitigation to accelerated transformation.

Each project is different, but they all have one thing in common—a need for decisive, informed, and often urgent action. And because that need is at the heart of everything we do, it has come to shape every aspect of our business.

The way we work—with our clients, as well as each other—is as much a part of who we are as what we actually do. It’s what makes us different—and the partner of choice for some of the world’s most successful as well as some of the most challenged companies, when it really matterssm.

Experience from the start

We recruit the most highly qualified professionals in the business from a wide range of backgrounds, so when we take on a project, we bring diverse ideas and knowledge as well as specific industry experience and functional expertise to the table. But if we feel we can’t make a difference, or if we think there are other advisors who might be a better fit for what you need, we’ll say so up front. We’ll even point you in the right direction. We won’t just tell you what we think you want to hear—as trusted advisors to companies, business leaders, owners and boards, candor is one of our greatest assets.

Fast forward

Because we only work with clients when it really matters to them, time is often a factor – so we have to hit the ground running. Our people are assured problem-solvers, and our distinctive breadth and depth of experience means we’ve dealt with most situations before – which means we move quickly from analysis to action, working in small, agile teams.

On your side, at your side.

We’re not just in your corner. We’re in the ring with you. We work shoulder to shoulder with you to ensure the work we do is completely integrated with your vision, culture and formula for success. You have invested time, energy, and experience into creating, growing, and managing your business, and while we bring a lot of experience to the table, we know it’s your table, and we feel privileged to sit at it with you.

A perfect fit

Working together also applies to the way we work at AlixPartners. We form bespoke teams for each project that can quickly draw upon talent from across our global network, which means we incorporate a richer range of thinking. So you have the right team at your side—not to mention a combination of resources you won’t find anywhere else.

A committed relationship

We measure our success in real terms – by the results we deliver, not just the advice we give. So unlike many consultancies, we don’t make recommendations and walk away—we stick around until the job is done. We’re accountable for a practical, sustainable outcome designed not just to help you succeed today, but to leave you ready to build on that success in the future—when it really matters.

A Top Place to Work for Everyone

Our diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy allows employees the freedom to be their authentic selves at work, develops inclusive leaders, and engages employees to better serve our clients and give back to the communities in which we work.

What has always inspired me about our firm is how our people go straight to heart of the problem or opportunity. That has been true with our D&I journey. I'm proud of our success so far:

  • We increased gender and minority representation on our Board;
  • We updated our managing director recruiting and promotion processes, two of the biggest levers we have for increasing diversity at senior levels in the firm;
  • We designed a centralized system to accurately track our progress on both diversity and inclusion, and have updated our performance management processes to increase leader and individual accountability on diversity and inclusion goals; and
  • Our Employee Resource Groups engage employees in identifying ways to build inclusion into our culture, business operations and processes.

Our program centers on two key themes that are both aligned to our Core Values and priorities for any human capital business like ours: Belonging and being a Top Place to Work for Women.

The results of our internal surveys show that our people recognize that we are serious about inclusion, and that we are making a conscious effort to improve diversity. Where gaps and opportunities are identified, we develop targeted actions to address them. Read our annual report for more detail on our areas of focus.

Pride in belonging: Our Employee Resource Groups

AlixPartners Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are voluntary, employee-led and executive-sponsored networks that promote an inclusive and supportive environment, support recruitment and retention of colleagues with diverse backgrounds, and enhance employees’ professional and personal development.

The ERGs bring our D&I commitment to life,  and nearly 50% of our firm is engaged with at least one group. Through the ERGs, employees develop mentorship networks, provide peer coaching, establish new strategic relationships with external partners, and help AlixPartners update its policies and practices. In many ways, the ERG members also raise important topics for conversation inside the firm and among our leadership.

Inextricably tethered to our Core Values, the ERGs recognize the mix of individuals in our firm and help us all understand their unique characteristics and experiences. As a result, we are better able to serve clients with diverse and inclusive teams, as well as create a climate where individuals feel they are involved and empowered. Our annual report on diversity and inclusion details many of the activities of our ERGs throughout the year.

Supporting LGBTQ+ Rights

But it wasn’t until Meaghan’s mother tested positive for one of the BRCA mutations and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer herself that she realized how life-changing this information would be.

TOP PLACE TO WORK FOR WOMEN

"Women’s employee groups are often targeted towards how to work better, more effectively and more efficiently. This can miss the whole story, particularly if you are at the stage of your life and career where you may need to take a step back. Contracting breast cancer profoundly changed my life, not just my career.

"When I recovered and returned to work I organized a session with our Women’s Empowerment Matters Employee Resource Group featuring an expert who advised on simple actions to prevent breast cancer and the signs to look out for. I contributed my personal story to the event, alongside others.

"Those who attended the session found it informative and practical and I found it a warm, supportive and open session. Career choices are not just about ‘leaning in,’ they are also about considering health and family matters. I feel really positive that I was involved in such an impactful initiative which helped me and those I work with.

"At AlixPartners, employees can come up with good ideas, which are then sponsored by senior members of the business and quickly driven to effective action."

Our commitment to sustainability and carbon neutrality

Our approach to sustainability includes corporate, local office and individual action to achieve carbon neutrality and reduce our carbon footprint. At a corporate level, we work with the organizations One Carbon World and ClimateForce to measure and offset our global carbon footprint. As part of this work, we have examined our direct emissions (e.g. gas, water, car fleet), our indirect emissions from electricity purchased, and other indirect sources of emissions (e.g. business travel, procurement, waste, etc.).

To further our impact at our local market level, we have working groups in each of our offices throughout the world. These groups drive local activity against our global framework to avoid and reduce our carbon footprint. We work to educate our individual employees about the importance of sustainability and about the ways that they can reduce their own carbon footprint both at work and at home.

We launched an education campaign in 2020 to help people understand how to change individual behaviors in their home office environments, which includes direct and indirect emissions, plus important topics such as reducing food waste, environmental advocacy and social justice. We encourage employees throughout the firm to join our Drawdown EcoChallenge team to support their education, and track our collective impact.

Watch the brief video celebrating the charities supported during a recent employee meeting

Employees let our values guide AlixGives donations

For a recent global team meeting, which brought together nearly 2,000 AlixPartners employees, our employee resource groups selected eight charities with missions that align to our brand values, and asked each what they needed most urgently, to do the most good, for the most people, right away.

The answer resulted in donations ranging from 4,000 pounds of dog food, to 100 pairs of sneakers, to a collection of toiletries, meals, devices and even a brand new refrigerator.

These donations help AlixPartners bring our “when it really matters” approach to supporting the communities where we live and work.

Watch the video and visit the charities’ websites below for more information.

Girls on the Run Las Vegas

Selected by the AlixPartners Women's Empowerment Matters (WE Matters) employee resource group, Girls on the Run Las Vegas is an organization aimed at inspiring young girls to recognize their inner strength through a 10-week program, which includes community service projects and culminates with a celebratory 5k run. The funding received from AlixPartners will be used to purchase new Adidas running shoes for more than 100 girls between the ages of 9 and 13.

Helping Hands of Vegas Valley

Selected by the AlixPartners NextGen leadership employee resource group, Helping Hands of Vegas Valley is committed to assisting elderly residents in their community by providing much-needed services, such as transportation, home maintenance, and repairs. The items donated by AlixPartners will be used to make 600 toiletry kits that will be given to homebound and low-income senior citizens in the community.

Las Vegas Rescue Mission

Selected by the AlixPartners Black Professionals Network (BPN) employee resource group, The Las Vegas Rescue Mission helps hundreds of homeless men, women, and children every day by providing meals and other essentials. AlixPartners donated hats, sunscreen, and Chapstick that will be distributed to the homeless to help protect them from the sun during the extremely hot summer months.

PAL

Selected by the AlixPartners Military and Veterans Advocacy Network employee resource group, PAL-North Vegas is dedicated to animal welfare in the Las Vegas community. AlixPartners donated 4,000 pounds of pet food that will be used for the Pets in Need program. This program provides 250 pet owners with a month’s supply of food for their cats and dogs. Large donations like these enable pets to stay on the same food, which is healthier for them.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Las Vegas

Selected by the AlixPartners Asian Leadership Insights and Growth Network (ALIGN) employee resource group, The Ronald McDonald House of Las Vegas provides temporary housing to families who travel to Las Vegas to receive critical medical treatment for their children. AlixPartners donated pillows, towels, and washcloths that many families will use while staying at the Ronald McDonald house. AlixPartners also donated iPads that will be used by children for educational games and entertainment.

The Center

Selected by the AlixPartners PRIDE Matters employee resource group, The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada supports furthering the well-being, positive image, and human rights of the LGBTQ community. The iPads donated by AlixPartners will empower The Center staff to maximize their impact, whether it is finding services for homeless LGBTQ youth or assessing and surveying other needs. The refrigerator donated by AlixPartners will help provide a reliable source of safe food storage for the youth and senior programs.

The Shade Tree

Selected by the AlixPartners Working Parents employee resource group, The Shade Tree provides a 24-hour, safe shelter for abused and homeless women and children in crisis. The items donated by AlixPartners will provide the women and children who come to the shelter with a clean bed to sleep in and include clean diapers for the children.

Three Square

Selected by the AlixPartners Hispanic or Latino at AlixPartners (HOLA) employee resource group, Three Square is one of the most reputable food banks in the Las Vegas area. In 2018, Three Square distributed more than 39 million meals to people in need in the community. The food donated by AlixPartners will provide 15,000 meals to those in need in the Las Vegas area.

The AlixPartners Foundation in the UK

Since 2010, the AlixPartners Foundation in the UK has supported many charities both financially and through volunteering time and skills. The Foundation aims to engage with charitable causes which are part of our local communities and which may not have access to significant support. The Foundation often partners with selected charities over several years, to provide longer term support or to allow the charity to deliver a specific project.

Here are some of the charitable initiatives the AlixPartners Foundation in the UK supports, all of which were nominated by our employees:

  • Birkbeck Compass Project reaches out to refugee and asylum seeker communities to access education in the UK.
  • Legs4Africa is a charity which works with amputees in the UK and mobility centers in Africa to help people live more independent, fulfilled and active lives despite their limb-loss.

  • RESTART Lives is a small London-based charity whose objective is to support homeless people to overcome the challenges of life on the streets and help them return to society feeling more empowered and resilient.
  • Snow-Camp is the only charity in the UK which uses a unique combination of skiing, snowboarding, education and vocational opportunities to support and empower inner-city young people.

  • We increased gender and minority representation on our Board;
  • We updated our managing director recruiting and promotion processes, two of the biggest levers we have for increasing diversity at senior levels in the firm;

A Tina’s Wish Lunch & Learn at the AlixPartners office gave managing director Meaghan Schmidt and her colleagues an introduction to ovarian cancer and the facts about BRCA mutations.
