AlixPartners congratulates Holly Etlin for being honored by Citizens Committee for New York City
She will receive the ‘Oz Elliott Good Neighbor Award’ at Sept. 24 event, which will also include a special appearance by actress Fran Drescher
NEW YORK (Sept. 18, 2018) – AlixPartners, the global consulting firm, announced today that Holly Etlin, a Managing Director in its Turnaround & Restructuring practice, has been named an honoree by Citizens Committee for New York City (CCNYC), and that she will receive her award at the organization’s annual “Evening on the Lake” event on Sept. 24 held at the Central Park Boathouse from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. EDT. The award is named for CCNYC co-founder, and former Newsweek magazine editor-in-chief and the former Columbia University School of Journalism dean, Oz Elliot. The event is also advertised to include a special appearance by multi-Emmy and Golden Globe nominee and activist Fran Drescher.
Etlin will be honored for her active support of CCNYC, an organization dedicated to helping New Yorkers join forces to improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods for more than four decades. The organization reports that last year it supported 488 community groups in 155 neighborhoods throughout New York which are working to make the city safer, more eco-friendly, and more financially secure.
“All of us at AlixPartners congratulate Holly on this well-deserved recognition,” said Alan Holtz, AlixPartners’ Local Market Leader for New York and also a Managing Director in the firm’s Turnaround & Restructuring practice. “In addition to being an invaluable member of our team at AlixPartners, she is passionate about the environmental, educational, and socioeconomic welfare of all New York City neighborhoods and residents.”
Etlin joined AlixPartners in 2007 and boasts more than 30 years of experience performing turnaround and restructuring services for companies, their creditors, and other stakeholders. Throughout her career, she has led some of the most complex turnaround cases in American industry, including in retail, financial services, media, and hospitality. Among her other roles, she served as Chief Restructuring Officer of BCBG Max Azria Group LLC, CEO and Chief Restructuring Officer at New Century Financial Inc., and acting CEO of Tanner & Haley Resorts LLC.
Among her other honors, in 2014 Etlin was named “Woman of the Year in Restructuring” by the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation, a premier international networking and professional growth organization for women in the restructuring and insolvency industry. The Turnaround Management Association awarded her its Turnaround of the Year Award for her successful turnarounds of BCBG Max Azria in 2018 and of Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. in 2007.
“Much like the way Holly advises large, distressed companies, CCNYC grantees develop and execute plans that produce tangible benefits to New York City communities,” said Paul Deutch, Senior Vice President of Omni Management Group and Chairman of the “Evening on the Lake” host committee. “As a result of Holly’s fundraising efforts, grantees are doing things like planting gardens to grow food for neighbors in need and teaching dance and music classes to kids in areas where arts programs have been defunded.”
