Filippo Guidotti Mori

How one AlixPartners alum turned a passion for football into a front-office career at one of the world's most iconic clubs.

For most football fans, getting inside San Siro Stadium on a quiet weeknight is the stuff of dreams. For Filippo Guidotti Mori, Administration, Finance and Controlling Director of AC Milan and Co-CEO of Stadio San Siro, it's simply a favorite way to end the working day.

"Every time I go there, it's special," he says. "You are really touched by the silence that you never have during the matches."

It's a luxury earned through nearly two decades of hard work and an unwavering determination to chase what he genuinely loves. Filippo joined AlixPartners in 2012, enticed by the prospect of the firm's hands-on approach to restructuring and performance improvement. After an early career in consulting helping develop strategies for corporates and PE funds in wide-ranging industries including automotive, life science, oil and gas, and retail, he wanted to get closer to the action. “Doing something more hands-on was what really attracted me at that time.” He started his career at AlixPartners as a generalist, before moving into the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications practice, where he helped build the firm’s sports and entertainment practice.

“One piece of advice that has stayed with me since the beginning is to listen more than you speak—you always learn more that way.”

“My first engagement with AC Milan was in 2019, one of AlixPartners’ first projects in the football industry.” This engagement dovetailed with Filippo’s lifelong passion: “football and sport in general.” Ultimately, passion pulled him from consulting into the club itself. When the opportunity came to join AC Milan full-time, he didn't hesitate. "I noticed the difference. It felt less heavy, even during long hours and time away from family. I really wanted to work in the industry, and in the end, I managed to do it."

The transition from consulting to corporate life required a genuine shift in mindset. "In consulting, you're more focused on the big picture and the delivery at the end of a project. Here, I make a lot of small daily decisions. It's much more operational. "Leading a more diverse workforce, in background, age, and ambition, has been the other significant adjustment. His response has been prioritising listening and understanding different perspectives across the organization. "One piece of advice that has stayed with me since the beginning is to listen more than you speak—you always learn more that way."

What might surprise people about a football club such as AC Milan? "We are four or five companies in one," he explains. “Sport, retail, hospitality, real estate, sponsorship and media rights, each with its unique complexity.” Right now, that includes being part of the development of a new stadium with city rivals Inter, a project he describes as "a great milestone for the club and for the city of Milan." His role on the stadium board also brought him into the logistics of hosting the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics at San Siro.

Then there's the variable no spreadsheet can fully capture, results on the pitch. "Fee points in the table can completely change the financial profile of the season and it's something you simply cannot control.” Planning in football, he says, demands both rigor and flexibility in equal measure.

“At AlixPartners, you will develop the tools and skills to embrace new ventures”

Through it all, Filippo is still closely connected to the AlixPartners community, keeping up with both senior colleagues and former team members, meeting them at matches at San Siro and even playing tennis with some of them almost weekly.

And for anyone weighing a big career decision, his message is straightforward: “At AlixPartners, you will develop the tools and skills to embrace new ventures,” he says. “Take the challenge, even if it’s out of your comfort zone. At the end of the day, you will find a way to do it.”
