Tarek Ghalayini is a Partner & Managing Director, Co-head of Americas Risk Advisory at AlixPartners, and the global leader of AlixPartners’ eDiscovery practice.

Tarek is a recognized expert in complex litigation matters where he guides and prepares clients for large, cross-border matters involving data mining, analytics-drive document review, and other related data-centric issues. A licensed attorney with a strong background in accounting and finance, Tarek works closely with counsel, corporate clients, and financial advisors to quickly and efficiently tackle complex electronic data problems in global litigation, financial investigations, regulatory inquiries, and restructuring matters.

Tarek is known for developing and executing effective and straightforward solutions that bring clarity and consistency to cross-border and local matters alike.

Outside of his work at AlixPartners, Tarek regularly appears as a guest lecturer at the Texas A&M University Mays School of Business and is a board member of Esther’s Friends, a Chicago based non-profit focused on helping children and families of children facing long term hospitalization.

Key Engagements:

  • Led multiple teams in two jurisdictions through a simultaneous Second Request and EU Merger Review, both to successful completion without extension.  

  • Retained to manage the data components in an internal investigation of a South American airline, including the restoration of legacy data on-site under a very tight timeline while ensuring the overall review of existing live data remained coordinated and continued uninterrupted.  

  • Retained as an expert in a high-profile international criminal matter regarding the reasonableness of certain data-handling restrictions imposed by prosecutors.
