David Sieradzki, CPA, CA, LIT is a Partner & Managing Director in AlixPartners’ Canadian restructuring practice. David frequently deals with debtor companies, secured creditors and other stakeholders in the context of formal and informal insolvency proceedings. He has been involved in numerous restructuring proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, and has extensive experience in cross-border mandates under the United States Code. He has acted as consultant, receiver/manager, monitor, liquidator and information officer in various financial restructuring matters.
David is routinely engaged to perform viability assessments on distressed businesses operating in a variety of industries. He has been involved with businesses in the real estate, forestry, retail, mining, construction, automotive and technology industries, among others. Certain of David’s restructuring mandates include Revlon, Hollander Sleep Products, Ashcroft Homes, Discovery Air, RB Energy, Eddie Bauer, DragonWave, CPI Corporation, Canadian Shipbuilding & Engineering and First Nickel.
David is a Chartered Accountant, Licensed Insolvency Trustee and a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional. David is a member of the Practical Law Canada Insolvency and Restructuring Advisory Board. He has served as member of the Board of Directors of ORT (Toronto Chapter), Turnaround Management Association (Toronto Chapter) and Hillcrest Progressive School. David also chaired ORT’s Investment and Finance Committee.
David is an annual guest lecturer in the bankruptcy law class of Osgoode Hall and University of Toronto and has been a speaker at various insolvency conferences, including for Insolvency Institute of Canada, Annual Review of Insolvency Law, Lexpert, CAIRP and Law Society of Upper Canada.
In 2018, David was admitted as a member to the Insolvency Institute of Canada, which recognizes Canada’s leading insolvency practitioners. David received his B.A. (honors) from the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario.
