AlixPartners combines behavioral science and business strategy to help companies choose leaders, navigate change and transform corporate culture
Launches Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness Practice
(January 21, 2015) – In today’s highly competitive and complex business environment, strategic business outcomes require the best-available talent positioned in the right roles and aligned to accomplish the highest-priority goals. To address these needs, global business-advisory firm AlixPartners today announced the launch of its new global Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness practice, which combines behavioral science and business strategy.
Led by Ted Bililies, Ph.D, Managing Director, who brings 25 years of experience advising and coaching business leaders, the practice is made up of a team of experts with extensive behavioral science and business backgrounds. Utilizing an evidence-based, data-driven approach, these individuals work with management, boards and owners facing high-stakes leadership decisions or transformational change to develop strategies that make the most of a company’s investment in crucial talent decisions. This practice brings AlixPartners’ unique brand of results-oriented insight to the challenges of leadership selection and organizational change.
Said Fred Crawford, CEO of AlixPartners: “Few things matter more in business today than selecting the right leaders for a company or moving an organization from an outdated, underperforming culture to one of purpose, innovation, and excellence. AlixPartners’ new Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness practice is built to do just that for companies, whether they are publicly listed corporations or portfolio companies of private equity firms. Our professionals bring wide-ranging experience in both cognitive science and business, as well as the speed, common sense and results orientation that are the hallmarks of AlixPartners. Ted and his team add a compelling new dimension to AlixPartners’ service offering for clients looking to create and maximize value in today’s low-growth world.”
Bililies has worked as a trusted advisor and coach to hundreds of CEOs, senior executives, company founders, investors and boards of directors. He has also advised global organizations such as the World Bank, Putnam Investments, Fidelity Investments, Johnson & Johnson and State Street Corporation. Building on his doctoral training and residency as a clinical psychologist at Harvard University, he has helped global leaders achieve enduring change in their organizations, their teams and themselves.
The Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness Practice uses AlixPartners’ own proprietary, leading-edge executive assessment model, to identify both the business outcomes demanded from the leadership role and the way the individual interacts with the company’s culture. Using the executive assessment model, the Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness team can help executives manage change in themselves and in their organizations. By learning how to respond more productively to change or uncertainty, executives are better able to use disruption as a learning opportunity for themselves and their teams, steer their companies through dynamic business environments, avoid obsolescence, and—most important— embrace new opportunities.
Said Bililies: “The selection of a new executive leader for an organization is a critical decision that requires a stable framework for success. We combine a highly sophisticated analytical approach with the latest in cognitive science and extensive business experience to provide management, boards and owners a very high level of confidence in their ultimate decision making.”
Besides Bililies, the Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness team also includes two senior-level directors. They are:
- Rob Elsey, an expert in assessment, development planning, coaching, executive onboarding and cultural transformation, holds a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and is a psychologist and board-certified executive coach.
- Dan Fisher, an expert in executive assessment and development and coaching, has experience in assisting private-equity firms with pre- and post-deal due diligence of portfolio-company management teams, holds a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and served on the faculty at Weill Cornell Medical College.
