AlixPartners strengthens growing EMEA Financial Services offering with top industry leader

NEW YORK (11 March, 2026) – AlixPartners, the global consulting firm, today announced that it has appointed recognised Financial Services expert, Daniel Mikkelsen, to the position of EMEA Financial Services Leader. This strategic role serves to broaden and deepen the firm’s successful financial services practice, driving its existing strong capabilities into new markets and regions. Daniel will be based in the firm’s London office. 

Daniel brings more than 25 years of experience across Financial Services, Risk, Sustainable Finance, Digital and Analytics, along with deep expertise in corporate strategy, transformation, business building and investing. He joins AlixPartners from McKinsey, where he was a Senior Partner in the Financial Institutions, Sustainability and Risk practices. An entrepreneur by background, Daniel has built and led six practice groups over the past 12 years and co-founded multiple businesses, including the world’s largest carbon market, a fintech firm and a sustainable construction company. He also serves on the advisory boards of two scale-up firms.

In his new role, Daniel will work alongside the existing team to further amplify AlixPartners’ work across the banking sector, as well as the fintech, asset management, insurance, and private equity sectors. His appointment reflects the firm’s commitment to building on the strong foundations of its EMEA Financial Services practice.

Daniel Mikkelsen is a globally recognised expert in Financial Services, Risk, Sustainability, and Digital and Analytics, with particular expertise in strategy, transformation, business building and investing. He has served 30 of the top 50 banks in the world and is an entrepreneur at heart, having built and led six practices in the past 12 years—including a Sustainable Finance practice at his previous firm. He has also co-founded several businesses, including the world’s largest carbon market, a fintech and a sustainable construction business.

He is also an accomplished practitioner in risk, organization and governance, an area in which he started his career and continues to be a significant area of focus for him. Geographically, Daniel has worked extensively with clients across Europe, the U.S., the Middle East, South Africa, Australia, and Japan. 
Daniel holds BA, MA and MPhil degrees from Oxford University in Philosophy, Politics & Economics and a diploma in Mathematics & Statistics from the Open University. He speaks English, Danish and German.

Prior to joining AlixPartners, Daniel was a Senior Partner at McKinsey, in its Financial Institutions, Sustainability and Risk practices. Before that he was a Partner in Oliver Wyman’s Finance & Risk Practice.
