John is a Director in the Investigations, Disputes, & Advisory Practice at AlixPartners, based in the New York office.  He advises boards of directors, management teams, investors, and other stakeholders in matters involving complex accounting and financial issues through the AlixPartners Office of the CFO. He assists clients in interim management roles, corporate investigations, financial forensics, accounting advisory and restatements, and other strategic and technical matters.

John has worked with companies in countries throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia, helping address the effects of disruptive forces such as compliance risks, regulatory investigations, litigation, and fraud. He has helped numerous companies avoid loss or restore company value that is at risk or damaged.

John holds an MBA in accounting and international management from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) in New York State and a certified fraud examiner. John is also a board member of the not-for-profit Literacy in Community (LINC). 

Key Engagements:

  • Advising company boards, management, investors, and company counsel in numerous risk-related matters.
  • Guiding companies through matters in front of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Department of Justice, the New York State Department of Financial Services, and other regulators.
  • Applying relevant expertise across various industries, including technology & media, financial services, real estate, construction, and retail. 
  • Functioned as interim CAO and controller for an AI-based advanced security screening company after the company separated from their CFO, CAO, and finance staff. Facilitated 3-year restatement based on misstated revenue transactions, assisted on updating annual operating plan, and advised on new go-to-market strategy.
  • Assisted Interim CFO for a publicly traded enterprise technology company serving the multifamily rental home market in a financial statement restatement necessitated by the discovery of material errors and irregularities in revenue recognition practices related to sales to channel partners and end customers.
  • Functioned as CFO and treasurer under the court-appointed Receiver for a sub-prime auto lender. Secured and managed company assets, sold off portfolio of 100,000+ loans in three separate transactions, oversaw the restitution of funds to over 50,000 customers, and facilitated the wind down of the company.
  • Functioned as interim controller and treasury manager for a private airline purchased by a public acquirer. Compiled restated financial statements, acted as liaison with auditors, established controls, assisted in reengineering of accounting / finance function, and oversaw SOX implementation.
  • As Independent Consultant to a security software company, conducted a comprehensive review and recommended enhancements for policies and procedures revenue recognition, cash collections / treasury, transactions with distributors, internal controls, and internal audit policies.
