Alexander advises clients in the fields of turnaround and restructuring with a focus on Finance and M&A. He is experienced in the design and implementation of whole-company transformations and turnarounds as well as solvent liquidations, leading Finance functions in special situations, and in acquisition and divestment processes such as business and asset carve-outs. 

In the delivery of his projects, Alexander is known to collaborate closely with the management, lawyers and other advisors and the client's stakeholders to achieve the best possible and sustainable solution to the clients' most complex issues. His approach is described as pragmatic and goal-oriented.

Alexander started his career as a trainee in the transactions and restructuring teams of a Big4 audit company. He holds a Master of Science in Economics (Finance) from the University of Edinburgh. 

Key Engagements:

  • Operational restructuring of a Chemical company including the identification and start in implementation of up to EUR 100m of annual EBITDA savings, an overall make-over of the liquidity planning process, the build-up of the Business Plan, as well as the negotiation of a bridge-to-concept facility and subsequent financial restructuring, among others
  • Make-over of the Gastronomy and Retail platform and related Business Plan efforts at a German Infrastructure Company
  • Solvent liquidation of a German Grocery retailer incl. leading critical finance functions such as the Treasury Department and Business Planning efforts during Covid-19
  • Acquisition of a large and asset-heavy German target by a Private Equity fund and the divestment to a German family office two years later
  • Two-stage EUR 50m+ carve-out of pension obligations to a commercial pension fund during unfavorable market and deal conditions
  • Divestment of two non-core entities in the digital platform and meat-processing area by a UK-based PE fund
  • Commercial negotiations of a made-to-measure high-yield bridge financing solution (asset-backed lending) in relation to an acquisition of a German entity
