Jonathan has spent three decades in Financial Services and FinTech in the UK, North America and Asia as an executive, entrepreneur and advisor before joining AlixPartners in the Performance & Technology practice.
Much of his career has been spent in turnarounds and start-ups, and he is widely seen as a “special situations” specialist, with the ability to jump into difficult situations and solve big, complex problems. He has held CEO, COO, CFO and Executive Chair positions, as well as serving as an Operating Partner at a Financial Services-focused private equity investor.
Over the course of his executive career he has achieved a number of notable successes, including:
- As CEO, launching a new merchant acquiring business for one of the largest UK banks, now one of the fastest growing payments businesses in the UK.
- As Executive Chair, building a shared banking services business from the ground-up and selling it to a major global player in cash management hardware and services.
- As President & COO, founding an innovative digital payments FinTech and expanding the business globally with partner banks.
- As COO, leading the technology turnaround of a private equity-owned global payments company.
As an advisor, he has worked with clients – primarily private equity-owned or privately-held businesses – on major technology-led, multi-year turnarounds in P&C insurance, ecommerce, retail payments, card issuing and high-street retailing.
Jonathan is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and has a Master’s degree in Financial Management from University of London, and a professional qualification in Software Engineering from The University of Edinburgh.
