After beginning his career at Barclays Investment Bank, Tendai joined AlixPartners over 10 years ago, where he has excelled in delivering complex transformation projects for some of our largest corporate and private equity clients globally.

As a Director in AlixPartners' Private Equity Practice, Tendai helps senior management teams and investors navigate complex and time-sensitive challenges. He supports large global businesses with data-led operational improvement programs, covering areas such as whole company turnaround, margin optimisation, and general operational strategy.

Tendai also executes strategic projects on behalf of private equity funds across the M&A deal lifecycle, providing operational and PMO support on carveouts, integrations, and exits. He has delivered significant value creation and performance improvement for clients across various industries and geographies, using his expertise in operational strategy, M&A, and private equity.

Key Engagements:

  • Successfully led a portfolio margin optimization project for a European food and beverage (F&B) packaging business; unlocked €15M in EBITDA uplift from the targeted repricing of negative EBITDA SKUs across several product segments; sized a SKU rationalization program to support consolidation of manufacturing footprint, unlocking a further €10M in benefit
  • Implemented a sales force effectiveness program by designing a new operating model for the sales and customer service functions of a €2B global packaging business, which included defining a new sales coverage model, creating a new inside sales team, and digitizing customer query management via Salesforce, resulting in a 30% reduction in overall costs
  • Led an inflation margin defence exercise for a +€1bn European Pet Food business, identifying an unbudgeted 10% incremental increase in COGS, and delivering €20m margin improvement to offset the impact on EBITDA by strategically re-pricing hundreds of low margin SKUs 
  • Performed an interim role in a separation management office (SMO) team following the carveout of a $3bn global Food & Beverage business acquired by a private equity fund. In this role Tendai led cross-functional TSA negotiations across Europe, supported accelerated exits from TSAs and supported Regional Commercial Leads in delivering market cut-overs which included the divestment of non-core brands
  • Performed a due diligence for a European Food & Beverage business on behalf of a private equity investor and identified over 5% in gross margin uplift potential via margin optimization of the product portfolio
  • Led several outside-in assessments of global businesses for institutional investors, identifying value creation levers for the target companies spanning top-line growth, operations, supply chain and SG&A transformation
