Julia has more than 15 years of combined in-house experience and has worked on high-profile US compliance monitorships and cross-border compliance assessments. Clients benefit from Julia’s extensive expertise in conducting risk assessments, testing compliance controls, and assisting clients in remediation of systemic compliance failures.​

Julia has a Master of Laws in industrial and commercial law from the University of the West of England, Bristol. She is bilingual in German and English with knowledge of French and Russian. She cofounded the German chapter of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association and serves on the Expert Panel for Governance at Management Alliance GmbH.​

Key Engagements and Career Highlights:

  • Led several work streams such as governance and supervisory board, human resources compliance, and integrity for the independent compliance monitor and auditor team appointed by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) for Volkswagen AG, one of the largest and most high-profile corporate compliance monitorships in history.​
  • Acted as local, on-the-ground contact for the DOJ-appointed independent compliance and business ethics monitor of a global investment bank and led the quality assurance process for the final monitor report.
  • Evaluated technical compliance programs at global automotive manufacturers; assisted a Japanese automotive manufacturer undergoing remediation of emissions compliance and data integrity issues in anticipation of settlement with US authorities; tested remedial measures implemented to satisfy US regulators that emissions and technical compliance issues were effectively remediated to reduce expected penalties.​
  • Led a proactive global compliance program assessment for a luxury goods group—including review of group efforts in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States—to assess and reduce compliance risks in the areas of antibribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions, privacy, and supply chain risk.​
