Joe is a Registered Psychologist and an expert at helping individuals and organizations thrive.  With experience as a Partner and Practice Leader for both strategy and specialized HR professional service firms, he has gained deep experience building and delivering talent approaches across the employee lifecycle, as well as solving organizational challenges involving structure and culture.  Having lived and worked across the US, UK, Ireland, and Australia, he is versed in the complexities of multinational organizations and differences in talent practices.  He has written three books about work psychology and the science behind Talent Management and has a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma.  He is a frequent commentator in both industry and the popular press, most recently on the topics of well-being, social isolation, and the future of work.

Key engagements and career highlights:

  • Guided a Fortune 100 client through the successful spin of an $8B business employing 22,000 workers. Responsible for facilitating the design of the leadership structure (Levels 1 -3) and modeling the full organization to meet the desired operating model and achieve financial targets.  Developed a talent selection strategy that balanced speed in placement with upholding labor contracts and the need to hire in key external talent.
  • Led one of the largest private companies in the world through a cultural transformation to align with a five-year strategy, which focused more heavily on the customer and localized decision-making.  The work involved capturing feedback from over 10,000 employees in 70+ countries and facilitating leaders to make cultural commitments and recommendations for improving the operating environment.
  • Helped integrate two similar sized private agriculture companies into one company, involving communications, change, and culture.  Captured the current-state characteristics of both organizations and facilitated a design team (comprised of multiple business units and levels) to define the future culture and the initiatives, programs, and policies that would get them there.
  • Led change and communications workstreams for functional transformations (Finance, HR, IT, Supply Chain) for Fortune 100 companies in the food, aerospace and defense, and consumer industries, often utilizing a persona-based approach.
  • Developed the talent strategy for a privately-held communications company, involving the creation of a corporate university, alliances to academic institutions, and curation of the full leadership and general employee learning curriculum.
