AlixPartners Managing Director Steve Scales told Marketplace a move by retailers to order holiday inventory early in a bid to get in front of labor disruptions threatening to disrupt critical transportation routes is risky business. “The further out they are having to make buys, the more they are reliant on forecasts that are far out as well,” he said.
