Michael delivers impactful results in the restaurant and foodservice industries by executing complex operational improvement projects. He brings extensive experience in procurement and supply chain strategy, distribution, and G&A cost management.
His hands-on, pragmatic approach allows him to create practical and sustainable solutions tailored to his clients’ needs. Michael focuses on producing measurable results while also leading process improvements, which together drive both near- and long-term success.
Prior to joining AlixPartners, Michael led new product development projects with a focus on total operational cost and design-to-value. He earned his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
Key engagements:
- Led sourcing initiatives across ~$250 million in direct spend for a national food distributor. Supported change management within a revised central procurement organization, including transition of category roles, routine category and supplier spend analysis, and development of standard procedures and documentation for suppliers.
- Developed a G&A right-sizing strategy for a national restaurant franchisee, including consolidation of third party spend and improvements to processes and policies, securing ~$30 million in annualized savings which could be redirected towards future growth initiatives.
- Led the transition of distribution partners for a national restaurant chain with over 1,000 locations by onboarding new distribution centers, managing drawdown and transfer of inventory, and coordinating across DCs, suppliers, and franchisees.
- Prepared a roadmap for a regional restaurant chain to cut one third of corporate cost structure, focused on changes to operating model, functional re-prioritization, and reduction in third party spend
- Directed supplier management committee for a $225 million manufacturer during a restructuring program and subsequent carve-out. Managed supplier interactions, including onboarding, negotiations, and receiving and payment processes; and streamlined accounts payable and inventory procedures.
