J. Mark Farrar is a Partner in the Investigations, Compliance & Privacy practice at AlixPartners, where he advises healthcare, life sciences, and other industry clients globally on complex compliance issues, including SEC financial accounting investigations and white-collar crime allegations.
Mark serves as an expert witness and provides litigation support for matters, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, False Claims Act damages, Anti-Kickback Statute violations, and has delivered depositions. With deep healthcare compliance expertise, Mark specializes in building governance structures tailored to each organization's specific requirements, going beyond basic risk mitigation for pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical device companies, and healthcare providers.
He has served in several healthcare leadership secondments, including as the global Chief Compliance Officer for a multi-billion-dollar medical device and diagnostics company with over 50 locations worldwide, and as the US Integrity & Compliance Officer for a mid-sized global pharmaceutical company where he oversaw global sanctions. Additionally, Mark serves as an Independent Review Organization (IRO) expert and as an advisor on state and federal healthcare compliance issues. He also has assisted in the development of alternative methodologies to help refute multi-billion-dollar claims.
Mark holds a Master of Science in Jurisprudence (MSJ) from Seton Hall Law School and a Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance and Management Information Systems from Ohio University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the state of Georgia, a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF). Mark frequently speaks at large industry-specific, global compliance conferences.
